Na na na na na. Na na. Na. Homie Time!
(are you singing the song?)
What is the significance of the first Friday after shool starts? Anybody? That’s right! It’s Homie Time! Not only is it Homie Time, it’s Brunch with the Homies time. Is there anything better than delicious food and laughing with good friends and meeting some new ones? I think not. And there was a ton of laughing today.
I know I say this every September, but my girls are such a balm to my soul, so uplifting. I was in a fine mood when I got there, but I was nearly giddy with joy when I left. I’m looking very forward to next Friday!
One of the big bonuses is that Leanne is going to be coming to this group since she’s not working at the preschool anymore. How awesome is that? I get to hang out with Shannon at work and Leanne on Fridays. It’s like the best of both worlds!
Yeah – life is good.
On a similar, yet different, note – I’m no longer going to be leading my little homies. It was a hard decision to make, but after a lot of thought and prayer over the summer I have a peace about it. It’s time for all of us to move on – me to focus on women’s events and them to grow more with someone who can devote more time to them. They were all so incredibly sweet when I told them. Each one of them was understanding and, even more impressive of 15 and 16 year olds, very encouraging to me in my endeavors. Makes me want to get them all in a big group hug!!
So now that the school year is here and it’s Homie Time:
U Can’t Touch This!
New routines are hard to adjust to sometimes, but change is the life-blood of growth. Good decision. Now …. enjoy!
I’m going to!! 🙂
Jen,
Leanne had a blast at the group. She told me that she hasn’t laughed so hard in a long, long time. Thanks for welcoming her in with open arms. I know that she’s looking forward to spending time with all you “homies”!
Jon
Oh my goodness, Jon. We were all doing that thing where you’re laughing so hard you can hardly breathe! It was great medicine!! And I’m so glad she’s a new homie!
I have a group that I get together with every December for some “calm before the the holiday storm” time –
It’s my favorite time of year –
We need our girls! This is my bible study group and we don’t meet over the summer so by the time we get back together it’s like a homecoming!
Transition is hard for so many of us. Wishing you the best! Andrea
