NoThanks – Day Twenty-One
Tonight I am thankful for good friends.
This afternoon I got to hang out with my friend, Cristie, her darling baby, Corbin, and her menagerie of birds and dogs. Simon the parrot spent a good deal of my visit sitting on one shoulder or another and talking into my ear.
The last time I saw Cristie was several months ago while Corbin was still in the hospital. He was very premature and very ill and to see him happy and healthy today was such a joy and makes me thankful for his health. He’s not all the way there, yet. Those little lungs still have some developing to do but he’s well on his way.
After our visit I ran some errands, including a trip to the grocery store, and came home with the intention of making dinner. But instead we got a call from our friend, Betsy, to see if we wanted to go to Phamous Phils with her and Stan tonight.
Um, yes.
Katie had to work, but Todd and Taylor and I met them at the restaurant and enjoyed catching up over delicious barbecue.
When we got home the three of us played Rock Band and I was beast on drums. Not really. I was horrible. But I did okay on bass. But none of this really matters because it’s not actually part of today’s NoThanks. It’s just that it was so much fun I felt the need to share.
I think you remember Mary Austin and all her story; her little boy weighed 1 lb., 12 oz at birth (he was taken c-section @28 wks) Anyway, Andy is now 9 yrs. old, learning in school and doing well. He does have some mental “slowness”, but is a healthy, wonderful little boy. Maybe that will encourage your friend Cristie!!
I will pass that story on! I did have other encouraging examples for her, too. 🙂
