Oy Vey, Such a Night!!

In roughly three months Taylor will be eligible for his driver’s license. While the thought of turning him loose with a fast and heavy machine scares me, I also look forward to it. My life would be just a tad bit easier – like tonight.

Here’s this evening’s schedule:

4:30 leave the house, drive to Wawa for dinnery-type items.

5:00 drop Taylor off at church for Youth Leadership.

5:15 pick Katie and Shelby up from play practice, drive Shelby home while Katie eats dinnery-type item.

5:50 drop Katie off at voice lessons.

6:00 pick Taylor up from church.

6:20 pick Katie up from voice lessons.

6:30 drop Katie off at a cake decorating class.

GO HOME!!

8:00 pick Katie up from cake decorating.

Once I get in the car after Wawa I don’t see my butt leaving the driver’s seat until I get home the first time. Of course, even if Taylor had his license and an actual vehicle to drive it wouldn’t make a huge impact on tonight. It’s pretty much all Katie’s doing. Too bad she’s not going to have a cake for us to enjoy after all that running around tonight.

Jen,It’s so funny how just before they actually get the license, you just really become “ready” That was the case with me, too. And when Katie gets her license, you will have so much extra time, you won’t know what to do with it (Facebook?) And then, you might start missing those times in the car because you start to miss the little buggars!

Whew, I think I’m going to go take a nap just reading all that, lol. Oh, wait, we have a similar schedule tonight. That’s great they offer so many things like that through your church. Is the cake-less decorating class offered through there too? Way cool. I would’ve loved that as a young teen.

Tina – I have no doubt you’re exactly right!Monnik – turns out she gets cake in class, but doesn’t get to bring any home. NEXT week, however, she will be decorating a cake to bring home to us. And it just happens to be my birthday next Wednesday!!Becky – The cake decorating class is through the school district’s community program. I’m taking a digital photography/Photoshop class through it on Thursdays. Pretty cool!!

Once our oldest began driving, we had at least one teen driver for the next 9 years. Then Scott went away for college, and TL wasn’t old enough to drive for another 4 very long years!!! I was soooo happy when she could drive!

Wow. That kind of schedule would make me antsy – I’d just keep waiting to start it so I could finish it.Hope you had fun!Cindys

I totally believe that there is a conspiracy between the insurance companies and high schools – payments under the table type of thing. The insurance companies pay the high schools to offer soooo many extra activities that the kids all HAVE to participate – making mom/dad nothing but a taxi driver. That way, mom/dad is more than ready to pay the insurance companies to add that teen driver. Definitely a conspiracy. The down side is once they grow up and leave home, you’re stuck doing all the errands again. I hate carrying in the groceries the most. I keep asking the sackers at the store if they could come to the house to help!

Oh, so I see your Native American name is also “woman-who-drives-alot”.

See? You need to have Taylor be the taxi driver. I remember my mom literally dancing with glee when my oldest sister got her license. Her exact words? “You want the car? Here’s the kids’ schedules.” LOL. I’m in the same boat (except of course now, when Steve has NO activities whatsoever).

Oh Vey is right! Katie is keeping her mama on her toes! One good thing about Taylor driving is that Katie can hitch a ride with her brother… but then if they are anything like my brother and I were, they may not make it alive. Not due to the driving. LOL.
