Random Happenings

Did you know that David Hasselhoff is a T.V. giant and one of America’s greatest entertainment legends? Me either. But they just said so on America’s Got Talent so it must be true.

Last week we received a letter addressed to “The Parents of Katie” letting us know she’s going to receive a music award at the assembly on Wednesday. We were very excited and I put the letter up on the refrigerator so we won’t forget. Saturday Katie was getting something out of the fridge, read the letter and said, “Um, Mom. Did you read this last bit here?” Apparently I didn’t because it said, “Your child doesn’t know so please keep this a surprise.” I apologized profusely while she just laughed and told me she’d act surprised. So we started doing that part in “Miss Congeniality” where Sandra Bullock is practicing how to act – and I said, “If my mom only had a brain.” Of course, if you’ve never seen the movie you have no idea what I’m talking about. Just believe me when I say it was funny!!

Todd took Taylor to get his hair cut Saturday and I’m more than pleased to say all parties concerned are satisfied. Amazing!

Yesterday Katie and I went to the mall after church to get her a bathing suit. We had so much fun and we didn’t even argue over suits or anything! We shopped and walked and laughed and ended up in Fridays for sodas, appetizers and a dessert. It was a blast.

I ran to the grocery store today and as I was pulling some Jell-O ready made pudding off it’s little holder thingy I cut the tip of my index finger. I bled all over the place! Well, not really. I did bleed, but I was able to staunch the wound before I passed out or made a mess of the store. And I’m so dedicated to my computer that I’m typing through the pain.

I think this is enough riviting drama for one post. At some point I’ll tell you about our experience hosting wine club Saturday night and all the running around I did looking for dishes. It all came off fine, but it was questionable there for a while.

Cindy – If I had been in my right mind I would have realized it was probably a surprise. Obviously I was somewhere else! :o)April – It’s a music award – that much I know. I don’t know if it’s one of those generic awards that everyone who participated in chorus gets or what. But I will definitely let you know!Swishy – I’m all about the drama. And I only tell you guys the good things about my kids! LOL

Congrats to Katy. Don’t worry about not keeping the secret, I’m convinced motherhood kills braincells. But not enough that Mom psych didn’t work when it comes to haircuts :)Hope that maimed finger is better.

Congrats to Katie! And woo hoo on Taylor’s haircut.Sorry that you had a bleeding accident at the store. It could have been worse, but it takes a special kind of clumsy to cut yourself at the store! 🙂

I don’t think Bill Cosby would be hawking pudding if he knew how dangerous it could be.

  9. Jenster on June 12, 2007 at 1:27 pm

Tara Marie – I told Katie “chemobrain,” which is an actual, diagnosed side effect of chemotherapy. The only thing is, though, is it’s supposed to be temporary and I shouldn’t still be suffering from it. :o)Monnik – I’m tellin’ ya, the way they have those pudding snacks packaged is very dangerous. I wonder if I could sue…Jenn – don’t hassle the hoff! That is RICH!! LOLTravis – I’m sure you’re right!YOU PEOPLE ARE FUNNY!!!!! :o)

I too have a soft spot for “the hoff”…. Of course, I remember back when he was the hunky, young doctor on The Young and the Restless. Congratulations to Katie! Make sure she practices the fake surprise cry too.

Sandy – Yes! I love any type of clothes shopping for my daughter. She looks so cute in everything. I think I live vicariously through her!Terri – I’m not saying he wasn’t or even isn’t hunky. I just never realized he was one of America’s greatest entertaimnet legends. LOL

  13. Terri on June 12, 2007 at 6:27 pm

I’m terrible at keeping surprises.. I think I may very well be the world’s worst whether I know it’s supposed to be a surprise or not!

Since you have a son you know shopping with boys is waaaay different than shopping with girls. I try not to be too envious…but it’s hard. Although Shmoo makes an effort to fill the gap for me, he doesn’t giggle and won’t go for dessert afterward. Congrats to Katie on her award and the haircut that made all parties happy. Big stuff that!

  16. Jenster on June 13, 2007 at 9:00 am

Terri – Yeah. I remember ending up with a hoochie mama swimsuit because of you!!Burg – I’m glad I’m not alone. :o)Rosie – You never know if shopping with Katie is going to be a fun thing or not. It could have very easily gone the other way! LOL Kuddos to Shmoo for trying, though. :o)

  17. Terri on June 13, 2007 at 9:52 am

It may have been a hoochie mama swimsuit, but it looked good and I bet Todd liked it!
