Sickies In My House
I have two sick boys at home with me today. They both have a sinus infection and bronchitis.
It’s very sad for them because I am NOT a good nurse. I’m very low on the compassion scale. Oh, I feel bad for them, but I’m not going to wait on them hand and foot. Which right now isn’t even an issue because they both have taken some mighty powerful cough syrup and are asleep in the family room while Tora Tora Tora plays on the T.V.
We were supposed to have a late lunch with some friends yesterday and then see Pirates of the Caribbean III. We had even watched the first two so as to refresh our memories! Instead we all laid around and watched Freaky Friday and then chilled for the rest of the day.
While I don’t hold their illnesses against them, they are boiling my vibe. My day runs on a type of schedule and having someone else here messes with my mojo. I always used to think of myself as spontaneous, but obviously I’m not. I don’t do well with a change to my routine.
So my plan is to keep them as drugged as possible today and then send them on their merry way tomorrow.
Oh I HATE THAT!!!! I love having the house to myself, but every now & then my precious husband, whom I love and can set his own schedule, decides he misses me and stays home! Screws EVERYTHING up!!! That sounds so bad, and it’s not vicious. I just like my routine. :-/ Sure hope he doesn’t see this!!! Hope everyone gets feeling better quickly, for their sake, but mostly yours!!! 😉 BTW, is summer over yet?
Hope you get your mojo back tomorrow.A glitch in your routine is one thing but a chink in your mojo is out right serious.
Katybug – I know exactly what you mean! And now my Katie is running a temp so I don’t think she’ll be going to school tomorrow. *sigh* They’re in school until June 13th.Travis – You’re exactly right! My mojo has been seriously chinked!
I’m exactly the same way and I only have to worry about Bob coming in and messing things up. It can get to the point where he can mess up my sleep (since I sleep part of the day, if he comes home at noon I’m usually rooked) and that’s not a good thing! But bronchitis!!! I’m thinking you’ll be lucky to see them gone by tomorrow ;)Maybe you should take some of the knock out meds too so you can take a break ;)CindyS
I agree with you on the nursing issue. Compassion gets you nowhere except to the store for more tissues & juice & ‘the right brand’ of cough drops. Change the channel. Plump the pillows. It goes on and on & on. I find it easier to close the door and tell them- “Come out when you’re not contagious/ready to return to school/work!”
Sorry folks are sick around the house. But “boiling my vibe”…what a wonderful expression. I’ve never heard that before but I’m now looking for ways to use it in conversation.
I can so relate. I sometimes feel like the worse mom, because I get so irritated with my girls when they are home. That goodness that cough medication makes them sleepy. And of course makes them feel so much better…….XOXO
Sometimes a good night’s sleep fixes most things. I will be praying that happens for you! There is nothing worse than sick kids – unless it is having a whole house full of sick people 🙂 Bless you and I hope you get some cinema therapy with Dr. Jack and company really soon!
Oh goodness, I hate having sick kids…I sympathize with you sweets!
Ha, I can’t wait until my boys start school and I can have them gone for a little bit. (Sounds horribl right) When my husband went to self-employement it royally messed with my schedules! Check out a new blog allformoms.blogspot.com. A great new blog
