THAT’S SICK, YO!
Or wicked awesome! Or bad dope!
No, I’m not talking about illness, evil or drugs. It’s rock talk for cool! Or hot! Or crazy insane!
No, I’m talking about the weather or a mental state.
I’m talking about Guitar Hero II – a video game in the same vein as DDR, but instead of dancing on a floor mat, you play a fret board on a little plastic electric guitar.
Taylor’s birthday is at the end of April, but the video store down the street was closing and they had some sweet deals, including Guitar Hero II. It was his idea to buy it for him as an early birthday present.
Lucky for me he has to go to school and has a busy social schedule. I am pleased to report I have graduated from Easy to Medium. I ROCK!
NEAR DISASTER
Feeling unusually maternal this morning, I offered to throw a frozen chocolate chip pancake in the microwave for Katie while she was getting dressed. “Yes, please,” she called downstairs, the pleasant surprise obvious in her voice.
I placed it on a nice white plate and set the microwave for 30 seconds, just like the directions said for one pancake. My back to the kitchen, I had no idea the first floor was filling up with smoke until Katie came down.
So now I’m thinking I may have set the timer for 3 minutes instead of 30 seconds, but I really don’t think so. I’m not usually THAT scatterbrained.
Whatever the reason, the pancake now looks like a small, black paving stone and I think my plate is ruined.
Time for new dishes!!! WOO HOO!!
LAST, AND PROBABLY LEAST
I went through and organized our small pantry yesterday. Doesn’t it look nice?
I bought a bunch of plastic bins from Target, took everything out of the pantry, threw a bunch of crud away, filled the bins, placed them back on the shelves and voila!!
Very happy with myself, I was. Until I turned around and saw this:
Now there’s no room for this stuff. Time to get creative…
I loved the poem you wrote about thanksgiving! Thanks for sharing it!I too, am a Ziploc whore. And I’m proud of it–never had an ant in my pantry! The other night, I came downstairs and saw the microwave running, checked inside, and saw there was nothing in it.”Who turned on the microwave?!?!” I demanded.Everyone looked at me like I was nuts.It was ME! I thought I was turning on the timer and instead started cooking NOTHING!For like 10 minutes I was microwaving nothing.Yes, you and I are a lot alike! : )
I feel like we must be related. I would totally do everything you mentioned. I have organized our pantry and been so proud of myself until I realize that it looks so neat and tidy because I forgot to find a place for half our stuff. I have also done the microwave thing. It’s so easy to add an extra zero when typing in those numbers. That guitar hero looks like fun! Maybe my son would like it for his birthday. Since he is at school all day, I would have lots of time to play with it too.
Oooh, I know several kids in my family who would LOVE the Guitar Hero game — do they have one for the XBox 360??Been there, done the blackened thing in the microwave . . . more than once!Today I went to Target for maybe the fifth time in the past 2 weeks, and bought MORE storage bins (of various sizes, including 2 of those 18 gallon Totes) because I’m TRYING to get all organized to sell my house and move. I even tried those Space Organizers bags (you know, where you stuff it, then suck out the air?), but they don’t seem to work all that well. And I know it shouldn’t be all that difficult for me to get the house ready to sell since I just moved into it barely over a year ago . . . What can I say? I’m slightly disorganized! LOL Jennifer, who’s working on her closet right now . . . forgot what the floor looked like in there!
Wow, I didn’t know a pancake can do that much damage to a plate. Gotta think twice about eating them again, lol. I love Ziplock bags, can’t live without them. Those bags are so handy. You completely rock. Should I expect a world tour in the near future :).
Being the antithesis of domestic – I thought these things (incinerated pancakes) were common occurances. I didn’t realize they were unique enough to be blog-worthy. Man! All of those times I couldn’t think of anything to blog about…
A “Ziploc whore?!” Oh wow. Last week I oiled all the cupboard doors in our kitchen, but I’m afraid to look inside for too long…. :o0
Whenever we have shindigs at our house for our bike racing team–that’s bicycles, NOT motorcycles!!–some friends of ours bring their Guitar Hero and everyone plays it on our Playstation. If you have advanced already from easy to medium, I BOW TO YOUR SUPERIOR HEADBANGING!!! That game is NOT easy, nor for the faint of heart. Who is your character? One of the venues is in Austin, but I don’t think it’s a real place…certainly not one I’ve ever been to!!!I’m so excited about your new dishes!!! 😉 How’s this for a sad lack of skill: I majored in Home Economics in college. Can I cook? NO. Can I sew? NO. Do I iron? NO. (Actually, that last one is a flat-out refusal. I hate ironing.) Do I wish I had the money I spent on these college classes back? YES.Your pantry looks FABULOUS!!! My condolences on the extras. I hate that. Were you inspired by Dee’s Tupperware?
Manic Mom – I’ve started the microwave instead of turning on the timer before, too. LOLRadioactive Girl – Guitar Hero is the bomb! LOL It’s so much fun.Jennifer – Yes, I think they do make it for XBox. When are you listing your house? You should be an expert at this. :o)Aim – I’m not sure I’ll be touring. It’s hard with a family, you know.Jodi – I told you. You don’t have to actually have anything to say to write a blog!Barb – As long as they look pretty on the outside. That’s the important thing.Katybug – I play the piano and I think that’s why I can do the Guitar Hero as well as I can.Unfortunately I don’t think I ruined the plate so no new dishes in my near future. And yes. I was inspired by Dee’s Tupperware. LOL
The picture of the plate is hilarious! And my pantry is very jealous of your pantry. And MEDIUM! Very impressive!
I wish I could organize my pantry.. Come to think of it, I wish I had a pantry.
Swishy – What can I say? I’ve got mad guitar playing skillz.Burg – I always wanted a pantry, too. Now that I have one I wish it was bigger.
LMAO about the pancake! Mostly because that’s something I would do, especially since my cooking abilities are limited to the good ol’ microwave. Good job organizing the pantry. Our pantry is a mess! I want to clean it. I’m not a neat freak or anything but I do need order. There is always order to my chaos. Getting totes for everything sounds like a good idea. I’m going to try that. Thanks! 🙂
YOU rock? You are playing Guitar Hero? I love it! LOL
